Hi! I'm Mali,

thanks for clicking on my page.

This section is to tell you a bit more about me, the way I work and how I can support you.

About me

My journey to become a counsellor started with a degree in psychology, I enjoyed learning about different psychological theories and mental health conditions. This lead me to the decision to go back into education to train to become a counsellor. This started with a level 2 Award in Counselling Skills for Working with Children with place2be, moving on to a level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills and finally a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling with the Counselling & Psychotherapy Training Academy.

Whilst training integratively I had the chance to experience and learn about a range of counselling approaches. This solidified the foundation of my approach as humanistic, meaning I see each client as a whole and focus on the therapeutic relationship, research has proved that the therapeutic relationship is the most important element of counselling.

I incorporate elements of Transactional Analysis, a theory focusing on childhood experiences, and how these experiences can impact how our personality is formed, I use aspects of Person Centred theory, an approach which focuses on empathy, self-awareness and creating space free of judgement.

During my training I attended two counselling placements for which I completed over 100 hours, the first with Place2be, a children’s mental health charity, for this I worked one to one with children using therapeutic play. The second with Macmillan, which involved one to one counselling either over the telephone, or using video call for cancer patients and their families.

I offer both short and long term counselling. I have experience of working with grief, fear of dying, loss of identity and anxiety. I work as an integrative counsellor meaning I see each person as an individual, tailoring my approach to create the right support for each client. I work outside of usual working hours, such as before 9am and after 6pm, I work online meaning easier access from the comfort of your own home.
